EJC – European Jodo Championship

September 16th to 18th the 20th European Jodo Championship is happening in Stevenage UK.

April 24th we had individual and team selections. We are proud to say that we have TWO members joining the EJC. Pramit Basu is joining in the Sandan category and Kim Croes is joining in the Mudan category. Pramit and Kim are also chosen for the Belgian team.

Although it is summer and alot of people are going on holidays, Kenhachi still has weekly trainings for those who are willing because you can’t go to a European championship if you don’t train. So for now our chosen members are preparing for Stevenage.

15.09 This morning at 7u00 Kim and Pramit got on the train to Brussels. From there they are taking Eurostar to London and will then get on their way to Stevenage. Thank you to the dutch team for giving them a ride.

16.09 The first day has ended. Our friends had a good day of training and are now getting ready for dinner. Tomorrow they are starting the individual competition. Toi toi toi to everyone 🤞

17.09 Kenhachi got GOLD! The day of the individual competition is finished. Both Kim and Pramit have gotten a medal in the individual competition. Pramit won bronze in sandan category and Kim got gold in mudan. The Belgian team has 4 medals in total! Go Belgium. Congratz ofcourse to all the participants and all the winners.

Now our friends are recovering from two days of intensive training and competition with some very tasty Japanese food. After that they will relax and prepare for the team competition tomorrow. Pramit and Kim will both represent Belgium in the team competitions.

18.09 In the national competition the Belgian Red Peppers didn’t get passed the quarter finals against UK who won gold this EJC. Gratz to all anyway!

After the competition Kim did his exam for shodan (1st dan) and passed. Gratz to him and coach who passed his 6th dan!

To close this Ejc the sayonara party is taking place tonight so everyone can get the stress off the passed few days out of there system. Congratz to all and have a safe trip back home. See you all next year in Switzerland!

Next stop – Ishido cup end of January in Holland.
